Lantern Walking, kids and grown-up event

11/11 Meet at 545, leave for walk promptly at 6pm Laternelaufen or Lantern Walking is a traditional German activity held in the evening on the 11th of November. Children, usually preschool to kindergarden age (though all are welcome to join in) walk with lanterns, often handmade and bring light to the darkness. It sounds like fun so let's try it. This is a chance to enjoy the night with children, friends and neighbors. This is a part of the Beech St. Project which is all about getting to know our neighborhood and having creative fun.

Route: We will start at Fly Awake, gathering at 5:45 and leaving promptly at 6pm, we'll walk up to 13th and Beech, down Beech (past the two intersection paintings) to NE 9th where we will turn left and walk across our new neighborhood crosswalk and back along Fremont towards Fly Awake. 

There will be will be some hot spiced cider made fresh for the event!  This event is free, please be careful of the garden with your young children.

Bring your own lantern or make one at our event at the Albina Library.

Many people consider their dreams to offer the insight of a personal physician. Watching for certain themes shows us changes in our health. Balanced dreams can indicate we are on the right track with our health. Learn dream signs that are very likely present in your dreams and some basic strategies/herbs to help balance your health. $15

Guru Purnima Offering with Michael Stirling

Come celebrate Guru Purnima at Fly Awake with Michael Stirling. Guru purnima is a full moon night where the Guru/spiritual teacher is celebrated. Stirling is a disciple of Pandit Pran Nath and student of Maestro Terry Riley. He will be sharing his art of Raga (Indian classical music) singing. Event begins at 8 with tea and snacks. We will also be building a shrine, so we would like to encourage you to bring objects and images of your teachers. At 10, the singing will begin and will continue until 11:45. We will be lighting the fire puja during the final musical piece.
